Who Is Dave Masterman?
Dave Masterman is an established name in the UK audio production industry, particularly within radio, podcasting and comedy entertainment.
His career has centred on developing ideas, producing programmes and helping presenters turn concepts into compelling audio content. Rather than being primarily known as an on-air personality, Masterman has built his reputation behind the microphone as a producer and creative leader.
His professional journey has included work with major broadcasters and independent production companies. Over the years, he has developed particular expertise in comedy, entertainment and digital audio.
That experience has placed him at the heart of the changing British radio and podcast landscape, where traditional broadcasting increasingly overlaps with podcasts, video, streaming and social media.
Dave Masterman and Audio Always
A major chapter in Masterman’s career began when he joined Manchester-based independent production company Audio Always as Head of Content.
His appointment was announced in 2019 after he moved from Absolute Radio. At Audio Always, he was responsible for a broad range of broadcast and digital content across BBC and commercial networks, as well as streaming projects.
The position gave Masterman an opportunity to work within the independent production sector while helping develop programmes for major broadcasters.
His role subsequently expanded, and he became Content Director at Audio Always. During his time with the company, he worked on a range of successful productions and helped establish the organisation as an important independent player in UK audio.
Working With Elis James and John Robins
One of the most significant professional relationships in Dave Masterman’s career has been his long-term collaboration with comedians and broadcasters Elis James and John Robins.
Masterman was closely involved in producing their programmes, including their move to BBC Radio 5 Live in 2019. The new Friday programme was produced by Masterman and Audio Always and represented an important stage in the pair’s broadcasting career.
The partnership eventually developed beyond traditional radio.
The Elis James and John Robins Show became a major podcast, combining comedy, conversation, listener interaction and personal storytelling. Masterman’s production experience played an important role behind the scenes as the programme developed across radio and digital platforms.
Their long-running professional relationship later became the foundation for a new business venture.
Dave Masterman’s Awards and Achievements
Masterman’s production work has received significant industry recognition.
In 2019, he won the Gethin Thomas Award for Best Comedy Producer at the Audio Production Awards. He received the award for his work as Executive Producer on the Elis James and John Robins show for BBC Radio 5 Live.
He also received the silver award for Best Entertainment Producer at the same ceremony. RadioToday listed him among the gold and silver winners, highlighting his work at Audio Always.
These awards helped establish Masterman as more than a conventional radio producer. They reflected his ability to combine creative production, comedy, entertainment and audience-focused audio.
Dave Masterman and Significant Productions
In 2026, Masterman entered an important new phase of his career with the launch of Significant Productions.
The company was founded by Masterman alongside Elis James and John Robins. Announced in February 2026, the independent production company was created to develop distinctive comedy and entertainment content across audio and digital formats.
Masterman is Director and Co-Founder of the company.
The initial slate included The Elis James and John Robins Show, the wellbeing podcast How Do You Cope?, and The Socially Distant Sports Bar. The company has also continued expanding its network with additional comedy podcasts.
The launch represents a natural progression for Masterman. After years of working within established production structures, he is now helping build an independent company around his own creative and production experience.
Dave Masterman Age
Dave Masterman’s exact age and date of birth are not reliably published in the major publicly available sources reviewed for this profile.
Although online searches may produce estimates, there is not enough authoritative evidence to state a specific birth date or age as fact.
For that reason, it is safer to describe him as an experienced audio professional with more than 15 years in the industry rather than publish an unverified age.
This distinction is important when researching a public figure whose professional career is well documented but whose personal details remain relatively private.
Dave Masterman Family
Dave Masterman appears to maintain a relatively private family life.
His professional posts have referred to his family while discussing major career changes, including his departure from Audio Always. However, reliable public sources do not provide a comprehensive account of his family members, relationships or children.
Consequently, claims about his wife, children, parents or other relatives should not be presented as established facts unless supported by a reliable primary or reputable media source.
His public profile is primarily centred on his work in radio, podcast production and independent media.
Dave Masterman Net Worth
Dave Masterman’s exact net worth is not publicly confirmed.
There is no reliable public financial disclosure establishing his personal wealth, and online estimates should therefore be treated cautiously.
His long career in radio production, senior leadership at Audio Always, award-winning production work and current position as co-founder of Significant Productions demonstrate an established professional career. However, those achievements do not provide sufficient evidence for a precise personal net worth figure.
A responsible biography should therefore avoid presenting an invented monetary estimate as fact.
Dave Masterman Wikipedia
At present, Dave Masterman does not appear to have a substantial dedicated Wikipedia biography comparable with some of the broadcasters and comedians he has worked with.
This does not mean that his career lacks significance. Much of Masterman’s influence has been behind the scenes, where producers are often less visible to the general public than presenters.
His work can instead be traced through industry publications, production-company announcements, professional profiles and coverage of the programmes he has helped create.
What Is Next for Dave Masterman?
The launch of Significant Productions provides the clearest indication of Masterman’s current direction.
Rather than focusing solely on traditional radio, the company is developing a broader portfolio covering podcasts, comedy, entertainment and visual digital content. In 2026, the company continued adding new podcasts to its network while developing its existing programmes.
The changing relationship between radio, podcasts and online video also creates opportunities for experienced producers such as Masterman.
His background gives him an understanding of both established broadcasting and the newer creator-led audio economy. That combination could prove particularly valuable as independent production companies seek to build audiences across multiple platforms.

Dave Masterman’s career demonstrates how modern audio production has evolved.
From his work at Absolute Radio and Audio Always to award-winning production for BBC Radio 5 Live, he has built extensive experience behind some of Britain’s well-known comedy and entertainment programmes.
